What is this safari about?
Stay at the luxurious Mashatu Tented Camp and spend time in any of the four purpose built photographic hides with a professional photographic guide. Some of these hides are underground at waterholes, getting you right up close to drinking wildlife. The camp also boasts an awesome hide at its waterhole which is pretty special!
Whilst at the camp there are also many other activities available such as walks, cycling and game drives.
We recommend a minimum of three nights at the location.
Why is this special?
Guests can sit quietly and watch animals moving directly towards them, all the while taking pictures from unique angles, resulting in exceptional photographic opportunities. There’s nothing like seeing a herd of elephant drinking just meters away!
A professional wildlife photographer will accompany participants to the hides and is on hand to tutor both aspiring and experienced photographers in camera techniques, which will see a vast improvement in the quality of their images.
Where is this?
Mashatu Game Reserve is within the Northern Tuli Game Reserve and comprises 40% of its area. The Northern Tuli Game Reserve is on the east side of Botswana, bordering on South Africa and Zimbabwe and on the banks of the Limpopo River.
Who can go?
Ideal for individual travellers, couples, small groups or families.
There is a limit of three to four photographers allowed per hide, unless all from the same group in which case up to six guests are permitted.
Children younger than 12 years old are not allowed at the tented camp, but are welcome at the close by Mashatu Lodge (main camp).
What should I expect to pay?
The cost is USD $395 per night, per person, sharing. The safari is fully inclusive, but excludes drinks and the use of a hide which is charged at an additional rate of USD $70 per person, for half a day. Other services such as tutoring and equipment rental are also available.
